MODI consortium at RTR Conference 2025: Advancing CCAM Through Collaborative Exchange

Once again, a large MODI delegation was present at RTR Conference 2025 in Brussels from 11–13 February. This premier event, which showcased over 90 innovative projects, brought together industry experts, academic leaders, and policymakers to discuss the latest breakthroughs in road transport research and Connected, Cooperative & Automated Mobility (CCAM).

The conference agenda covered a broad spectrum of topics—from digital infrastructure and smart mobility solutions to sustainable urban logistics and next-generation battery systems. RTR Conference 2025 served as a dynamic forum for exchanging ideas, sharing experiences, and forging collaborations that are essential to advancing the future of transport.

A standout parallel session titled “Integration and large-scale demonstration of CCAM solutions” took place on 12 February, when MODI was represented by project coordinator Dr. Ragnhild Wahl of ITS Norway. In her presentation, Dr. Wahl provided an in-depth overview of the project’s efforts to accelerate the adoption of highly automated solutions in Logistics. She detailed how MODI is actively identifying and overcoming the barriers to deploying automated transport systems in the sector. Her presentation included real use cases—such as border crossing operations, as well as operations in confined areas and on public roads across the Oslo – Rotterdam corridor—and showcased emerging business models and partnerships designed to facilitate the beneficial roll-out of CCAM solutions in logistics.

Dr. Wahl also presented key findings that reflect MODI’s progress at month 29 of a 42-month project. The project, involving 34 organisations across 8 countries with a total investment of €28 million (€23 million from EU funds), has initially shown promising results in understanding how to overcome barriers to successfully roll-out CCAM technologies through demonstration activities and conducting business model experimentation within CCAM realm.

The robust discussions and knowledge-sharing sessions at RTR Conference 2025 underscored the importance of exchanging learnings and showcasing project results. By coming together at such events, MODI and its partners have not only validated their progress but also paved the way for future collaborative efforts that are crucial for bridging the gap between research, policy, and market readiness.

Stay tuned for further updates on our ongoing initiatives as the MODI consortium continues to expand global partnerships and drive innovation in the CCAM arena.
