The MODI Project recently participated in the Port of the Future Autonomous Summit, held at the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, a major gathering dedicated to exploring how automation and digitalization are shaping the future of port logistics. As part of the event, ALICE – the Alliance for Logistics Innovation through Collaboration in Europe and one of MODI’s shareholders – presented MODI as one of the EU’s flagship innovation projects advancing logistics automation and connected transport corridors.
Throughout the summit, ALICE highlighted how MODI is addressing critical challenges in the deployment of autonomous heavy-duty vehicles for cross-border freight transport. By integrating real-world testing with policy and business analysis, MODI directly contributes to the European ambition of a more innovative and sustainable logistics ecosystem. The project’s participation underscored the importance of public–private collaboration in ensuring that automation technologies translate into practical, scalable solutions.
ALICE’s stand also hosted the MODI Business Model Bar, a live engagement space designed to gather input from industry stakeholders on key questions such as:
🔸 What is the additional value of road freight automation?
🔸 How will automated operations impact cost structures?
🔸 Who should invest in infrastructure and manage risk?
🔸 Which commercial models are considered most viable?
Insights from these discussions will directly inform MODI’s ongoing work to define scalable and sustainable business models for autonomous freight corridors across Europe.
To further support this effort, MODI invites logistics players, policymakers, and technology providers to share their perspectives by completing the MODI survey. Your input will help shape the future of automated freight transport in Europe.
