5th MODI Biannual Meeting and CCAM Agora Session at Tomorrow Mobility World Congress in Barcelona

The fifth MODI bi-annual meeting, held on November 6-7, 2024, at the World Trade Center in Barcelona, brought together MODI participants to assess the project’s progress, work on the deliverables and milestones ahead, and connect with the local logistics ecosystem. Hosted by MODI partner IN-MOVE by Railgrup, the meeting opened with a keynote from Mr. Carles Rua, Head of Innovation at the Port of Barcelona on “Smart Ports and CCAM related Initiatives,” showcasing the Port’s advancements in digital and automated logistics solutions, their blue growth initiative and their alignment with MODI’s objectives for enhancing efficiency through CCAM.

The bi-annual meeting agenda focused on re-assessing the alignment of MODI’s use cases with the project’s objectives after 2 years of execution. Attendees engaged in breakout sessions to refine use cases, discussing ways to strengthen their impact on MODI’s ambition on accelerating the uptake of CCAM solutions in logistics.

A highlight of the meeting was the collaborative session on the MODI Book of Recommendations, an essential deliverable designed to support CCAM deployment across diverse sectors by sharing the learnings of the action. Participants contributed their perspectives to ensure these recommendations will effectively guide future policies and practices in automated logistics and mobility.

Discussions also included planning for the upcoming final event, where MODI’s results will be showcased. Attendees explored ideas for demonstrations, aimed at engaging a wide audience and highlighting MODI’s achievements.

The bi-annual meeting took place alongside the Tomorrow Mobility World Congress. Dr. Ragnhild Wahl, MODI’s project coordinator, represented MODI in the CCAM Agora session, Towards a Holistic Transport System: Learnings from CCAM Demonstrators in Europe. This session, attended by over 100 participants, featured  networking and clustering discussions with other CCAM initiatives such as Augmented CCAM, SLICE, and PoDIUM. Together, they highlighted the value of cross-project collaboration and how large-scale demonstrations can be an efficient tool to accelerate the rollout of CCAM solutions across European transport networks.
